Police issue picture in Aussie manhunt

A countrywide manhunt is under way in Australia for the husband of an Indian woman found in their Sydney home with her throat slit.

Police are looking for Chamanjot Singh, 23, an Indian national, who police say could be moving around interstate, although they began their search in Sydney.

They have issued Mr Singh’s picture and are appealing for people not only in New South Wales but also in other states to keep a look-out for him.

Mr Singh joined his 29-year-old student wife in Sydney between six and eight months ago and had been living with her in a room in the Westmead area.

A senior officer said the police were “very keen” to speak to Singh about the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
They are looking into the possibility that a weapon found at the scene was used in the killing.

Mr Singh is reported to have worked at various jobs since arriving in Australia.
